The Jewish Music and Poetry Project
The Garner/Kaleko cycle has inspired us to work on a new
project, which we're calling
The Jewish Music and Poetry Project
This will encompass several objectives and concerts:
* A new short song cycle by
David Garner for McGuinness and Pankonin,
written to poets of the Holocaust era, which will be
combined into
* A new
program for the Bay Area and beyond with songs Jewish Holocaust-era
composers, In dieser Zeit, the Garner/ Kaleko
cycle that we premiered in April,
2011, with the generous
support of a grant from the East Bay Community
Foundation,
and the new work.
* Bringing In dieser Zeit to Berlin and other
festivals and venues.
* Presenting other chamber music with poetry by Jewish writers and/ or
written by Jewish composers
The
Vinaccesi Ensemble
has been awarded a
grant from the
San Francisco Friends of Chamber Music
to record the solo cantatas of
17th century Venetian composer
Benedetto Vinaccesi
The
recording is made possible through the Musical Grant Program,
which is administered by the San Francisco Friends of Chamber Music, and
supported by the Heller Foundation, the Hewlett Foundation, the San
Francisco Foundation and San Francisco Grants for the Arts.
